Learn the basics of bookbinding: paper grain, deckling edges, tools for the process, adhesives, and more all while constructing a stitched soft-bound pamphlet book.
All materials will be supplied.
Bring a few tools: scissors, box cutter, ruler, reading glasses (if needed), and any favorite found papers (wallpaper scraps, atlas pages, old book pages, sheet music).
JoAnne Schiavone has taught book arts at University of the Arts, Penland School, York College of PA and workshops across the country. She has been making book structures for over 30 years and has received numerous grants and fellowships from NJ State Arts Council, PA State Arts Council, OK Arts Council, Joan Mitchell Foundation and Surface Design Association.
