Bookbinding 102: The Accordion Book

In this three hour bookbinding workshop, students will learn how to make a 5” x 5” accordion structure with ribbon tie. Accordion bindings are one of the oldest and most versatile forms of bookbinding. Excellent for display, painting, journaling, collage.
The following will be covered:
The basics of binding; tools, materials, cloth, glue
Working with cardboard and paper: folding, cutting, choosing the right weight papers
My tricks with this process and where to supplies to set of your worktable.
Provided: cutting mat, box cutters, scissors, paper, cardboard, bone folder
Students will purchase prior to class: 1/4” ribbon (1yard), PVA glue (Lineco) 8 oz container, old brush, cover papers (your drawings, paintings, collages, maps, wallpaper scraps, 12” ruler.
