Bookbinding 101 with JoAnne Schiavone
We will begin with the basic tools and their uses, bookbinding terms, and how to create the inside pages for your book. While designing and creating your soft-bound pamphlet structure, you will learn techniques as you develop your personal journal. Each student will select from a variety of paper for their covers, paper for their text block, and a thread color while learning the processes as we go. The final step will be stitching it all together with a three or five hole binding using colored embroidery floss, adding the secret pocket and button as the last steps. You will leave with a journal and a handout to follow for future bindings.
